My green card expired after I applied to naturalize. Must I file to replace it if I have already applied to become a U.S. citizen?

Generally, no. A Permanent Resident Card which is issued with a 10 year life may expire, but the lawful permanent resident status which it is evidences does not expire. An applicant for naturalization must establish that he or she is a lawful permanent resident, and, generally a Permanent Resident Card is evidence of such status.
